Willie Nelson, The Caged Bird That Sings Itself Free?

Country music legend Willie Nelson was offered a sweet deal by West Texas prosecutors Friday, attempting to resolve his November 26 arrest for marijuana charges by making him sing in the court room.

County Attorney Kit Bramblett recommended the singer plead guilty, pay fines and sing “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain,” reports the Associated Press. Bramblett made his recommendations to Hudspeth County's Judge Becky Dean-Walker, who accordignto the AP, “specifically demanded that Nelson appear in court instead of pleading by mail.”

Bramblett told the AP that the judge would really like to meet him.

Nelson was busted at a border checkpoint in Sierra Blanca on November 26, last year. Police smelled marijuana and searched the bus with K-9’s, finding a few ounces of marijuana.

Nelson was charged with a Class A misdemeanor for possessing between two to four ounces of pot and was released after posting $2,500 bond.

Judge Dean-Walker could not be reached, reports the AP.
